2002 F250 Crew Cab Overland Camper Project
For our next overland camper build we purchased a 2002 F250 4x4 Crew Cab Short Bed with the legendary 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel V8 (only 115,000 miles) and the 4R100 automatic transmission. Below you find the different stages of the build so far:
Stock - as purchased with minor modifications:

Upgraded HD Valve Body & Deep Transmission Pan from Mag-Hytec
51 gallon Titan replacement tank
Custom Deaver Progressive Leaf Springs front and rear with 2.0 Fox Shocks - we will upgrade to higher end shocks once they become available again
Rear leaf spring conversion to 2010 length (+8”) with longer rear shackle to increase axle flex
Adjustable HD track bar in the front
315/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler on 17” HD Method Wheels
LineX on fenders, lower side panels and front & rear bumpers
Upgraded 2016 tow mirrors & WeatherTech window deflectors
Amber Diode Dynamics LED fog light replacement of stock fog lights & LED rear light assembly
2016 rear & jump seat with proper shoulder belts, head rests and leather seat covers
In dash Pioneer AVH4500 deck with Apple CarPlay and back-up camera
Dynamat sound proofing throughout cabin and engine compartment
Stage 1 - Camper:
ARE DCU Max 30” Aluminum Shell with side hatches and integrated roof rack :
This shell represents a balance of rugged versatility and low profile for off-road use, yet at about 50” interior height it is big enough to sit inside in cold temperature or inclement weather.Camper interior: Engel Fridge/Freezer powered by Delta Ecoflow power pack hooked up to 3 x 100W Flex Solar panels mounted on roof, foldable bench, home made kitchen shelf system, 2 removeable bed shelves, Wrappon Toilet, Sylvania LED strip lighting, removable water tanks and two burner propane stove from GSI
